to bring forward or adduce in opposition

to state, claim, or cite in disapproval

an ode to the times I saw my body as not belonging to me

a subversion of the feminine as object 

an ode to all I will create with this body belonging to me

a rejection of the feminine as object

if I am only an object I am one of creation

Objectifying Myself before someone else can. 

Objectifying Myself is an absurd tongue-in-cheek self-portrait series exploring womanhood and the sexualization of the feminine body. I merge with raw materials, treating the body as morally and materially neutral. The work plays on “object” as both noun and verb: to be used, or to resist. It’s a reclamation through authorship, subverting objectification. Literally, objectifying myself.
