INFO

Allison Joy McKinney (b. 1997, Redding, CA) is a multimedia artist and photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She holds a BFA in Photography/Digital Imaging and Sculpture/Intermedia from the University of Utah. Rooted in her experience with chronic illness and working across photography, painting, video, and sculptural installation, her work navigates the tension between the natural and the artificial, the ethereal and the corporeal. Seeking to alchemize internal states and invisible experiences into visual form, she uses image-making as both a mirror and a portal to investigate the body’s fragility and capacity for transformation.

She is drawn to the intricate mechanics of emotion and sensory experience within the body, dissecting how identity intersects with biology, pathology, and perception. Across mediums, her work often becomes a somatic, phenomenological experience. Meditating on the liminal space between attachment to the body and the desire to dissolve beyond it.

Her work has been exhibited locally and internationally.
